I understand that they will need three weeks of testing once they are on site.

No date has been announced for opening yet. No it does not require 3 week testing. An official announcement will be made when we can. Or you can believe the remarks on social media from people who had a mate that did a bit of labouring there once and overheard a conversation they got the wrong end of !

Im sorry i have no idea about the testing of the Scenic. When i spoke with one of the the Directors of the park he told me once the trains were on site they would need about three weeks of testing.

I was involved in a conversation once. I was told not to say anything.

That is all I can say. ;-)

It does make you feel a bit that way. A guy taking photographs told me the trains and the dodgems were down next week . So when i thought about it and it was three weeks from the park opening i thought there was some truth in it. Well the dodgems came but no trains . I try not to get to involved with gossip.

David Littleboys has posted pictures of his Austin car ride on its way to Dreamland and says theres more to come, cant wait.

It wouldn't be unreasonable to have some type of statement as to when the Scenic Railway will be operating, particularly as it has been the main focus of the campaign to save Dreamland for over ten years now. But somehow it seems to have become "the question which must not be asked".

So Dave have any more news? We were told the contracts ended in May? Why the lack of info? What do historic england say about the new braking system and the almost 1 meter reduced height! Are they still happy with the listing? The blame was put on the cars... But simple question... Has all the track been laid? Is there a problem with the cars weight now the scenic is lower?

I doubt mtcrc is actually mtcrc at all but does anyone have a clue what (s)he is talking about?

I don't think that there is a reduced height of 1m. Why would there be? What would the benefit of this be exactly?

It's open to debate as to whether the structure was lowered compared to its original height or whether the lowering was to correct an over calculation on the plans.

There's some detail in the document at : http://files.whatdotheyknow.com/request/communication_regarding_the_scen/Dreamland_Redacted.pdf but be warned it's a rather large PDF and around 150 pages of letters and mails. This was released in response to a Freedom of Information request.

Here's the listing description. And height isn't mentioned.

What new braking system? Would it significantly impact on the listing? Unlikely.

Well I am not Bob, who ever he is.

Ask Dave's the following:

Has the scenic been lowered by 700 mm ( ie .7 of a m)?

Because it was lowered the car did not have enough weight to climb up the other side, true or false?

A magnetic braking system will or has been fitted as a new h&s requirement, in case the brake man is human.

Is all the track now laid and has this been tested?

When is the final inspection by the people in charge of listing ..Tom Foxhall.

And really, who cares?

As the trains are not yet delivered this makes little sense anyhow?

Scenic will be running again soon. That's what's important. Track looked pretty complete when I saw it.

'The people in charge of listing' are not the people who would 'inspect' Scenic anyhow. And cannot see any possible problem with Scenic.
