Hi,

Does anyone have any personal recommendations for B&Bs or Hotels that I could try and book for Saturday night?

Thanks

Paul.

I have been told that the Glenwood Hotel is a good option. Tel: 01843 228124 .

The Travel Inn is apparently fully booked.

It`s not the cheapest, but this is the best option for a man of your calibre :D :D :D

Here`s an extract from that page.........

"Edwardian through and through... and as much a museum as a hotel, The Walpole is just as it always was, if not more so, splendidly faded and run with true devotion..."

Inside, it is almost exactly as it must have been in the year the Scenic opened. In the lobby is a beautiful, double-caged lift, all completely original.

Usual disclaimer applies.

We will be at Dreamland tomorrow evening , so we hope to see spme of you then.

Thanks Nick and Vince.

We had booked the Walpole a few weeks ago but they could only do the Friday night and we thought we needed to find somewhere else for the Saturday as we had decided to make a bit of a long weekend of it. I gave them a ring Friday afternoon though and they had come up with a room for the Saturday as well.

The hotel definitely lived up to and exceeded our expectations, it really is a lovely place. I can't think of another hotel I've stayed in and felt so welcome. The staff are friendly and the service is superb without being overpowering.

For the Friday night we had a room with a lovely 4 poster bed facing out the front of the hotel and on the Saturday we had a family suite facing out the back.

The 1927 gated lift forms a lovely centrepiece to the hotel and is a treat to travel in. I was surprised at how quiet and smooth it travelled, I'd expected it to be a bit clunkier.

I did mention the campaign briefly to Jane Bishop when checking out and they are very supportive.

If there's another event like this next year I know where I'll be staying :D

Vince - Didn't see your post till today as we set off early Friday evening, would have said hello otherwise and meant to say thanks for the laugh your new ebay id gave me last month!
