Check out the Save Dreamland News page:

It is now looking very likely that Dreamland will open for at least the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

Told you so, six weeks ago! :D :D :D

An extract from the lastest news page..."We do not know whether Ayers will operate the Scenic Railway, which could either remain closed this year or, alternatively, be leased to another operator"

For my two pennorth, the lease should be offered to Dave Collard.

Dreamland to Open For 2005 Season

Postby porterm » 13 Feb 2005, 15:11

Hi all,

Just the news I need this working Sunday (I've just been able to checkout this site for the first time in ages at work!) - and just one day short of Valentine's Day!

Great news indeed. I do hope the Scenic finds an operator though, and I also agree Dave Collard would be most suitable there. Sounds like the new operator will offer some heavy park investment, which of course can only benefit the situation. Best of luck to them; we just need some nice weather this summer now to attract optimum visitor numbers.

Hopefully the Council Inquiry verdict on the Local Plan will be forthcoming earlier than indicated too so the park's future regeneration can commence in earnest, with a dedicated operator of course.

Martin

PS I must say this news was quite surprising in light of recent park activity. However, without Dreamland's operation the area would obviously suffer very badly this summer.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

That's the best news I've heard in a long time, and having visited the site last weekend it's the complete opposite of what I expected to happen this year.

Here's hoping the Scenic does run - and I agree it would ideally be managed by a certain Mr Collard.

Roll on opening day !

I have just made a few phone calls and I have been told that the Scenic Railway *will* be running this year.

This is FANTASTIC news.

If it can pull in the crowds with a decent selection of rides, it may prove to the council that this is needed, and could make Margate an essential place to visit in the south east

That's very encouraging news! I'm almost certainly going to be visiting Margate in August and was desperately hoping to show my young daughter where I grew up, especially Dreamland. I was not looking forward to showing her an empty park, but for now it looks like I wont have to! Roll on August!

Hi,
I have looked at the pleasurewood hills site and they are still advertising all the same rides for this year.
I wonder which rides are going to Dreamland ?.

I have just spoken to Harry Ayers and it looks like the Scenic Railway may open this year. The final decision has not yet been made, but it is looking positive. There will also be a drop tower ride in the park. There is an update on the News page:

Hi All,

This is the sort of news we have been waiting for. And I second the motion to have Dave C running the scenic.

Again, this is such great news

And the fact it *may* be open for Bonfire Night and Xmas, well, i certainly hope so

Like i said earlier, this could PROVE to the TDC taht Dreamland is a viable opition to maintain Margate as an area for people to visit

I mean, Thopre Park and Chessington are the only other places near us, and they are 2 hours odd away, with Margate, youget the seaside too.

Just looked again at the Pleasurewood hills site and no Mega drop on the list.
Must be going to Dreamland.
