With the great news that Dreamland will be, once again, open maybe we could all suggest other attractions to visit; hotels to stay at, and food and drink establishments that are worth going to.

Could I start with The Mechanical Elephant (Wetherspoons) on the front - cheap food and preety good beer; The Northern Belle (Shepherd Neame) - best pub in Margate (fabulous local atmosphere - brilliant beer) and to stay, the Walpole Bay Hotel in Cliftonville - absolutely fab.. I think we should all advertise our favourite things around Dreamland. This would make everyone's visit to margate even better. Please add other personal favourites; I am no way trying to exclude anything or anybody.

The Shell Grotto is a must see!

When I come down in August, I've only got three days free so we'll probably stop at the Travel Inn as we've stopped there the last two times and have always had a nice stay. I am hoping to get to the Grotto and the Caves as well as Dreamland whilst we're there. I've been going on and on at my sister in law's family to come with us as they've never been anywhere near Margate before and I think I'm winning them over! We try and do as much as we can when we're there and I love giving a tour of my old haunts! We do lots of walking along the coast because of the great views.
We'll be looking for somewhere that does a nice breakfast though!

What is Margates Seaside Museum like?
I read that it is housed in the Old Town Hall and contains over 7000 postcards. Is there much stuff about Dreamland there?

Shell Grotto sounds great. I will definitely head there next time. Could I also recommend the Theatre Royal (fantastic place) and the Everybody's Inn next door. Not that I'm obsessed with pubs or anything!!! With all of these great attractions around Dreamland - hat a place!!!!!!!!!!

Despite spending lots of time in the town I only got round to visiting Margate Museum last year, found it interesting but base that on the fact I have a long family connection with the town and could see references to things I remembered or had heard about. It is somewhat cluttered and things everywhere. Unfortunately they dont have the space or the manpower to display in the best manner. I must confess I cant recall a lot about Dreamland but am sure there must be something.

The Shell Grotto is a must, the Tudor House is interesting, or should I say was ... it's years since I visited, plus you have Margate Caves. If you want to travel just a little way there is the Quex Park Museum at Birchington.

The area has some excellent beaches, from small quiet bays to the Margate beach across the road from Dreamland. Some good walking along the coastline.

With the fairly close proximity of other very interesting towns a good holiday can be had in Margate with plenty to do and see, still leaving generous time for Dreamland.

Don't forget the Viking Coastal Trail, Blue flag beaches and Walpole Bay Hotel Museum. Hungry Horse in Cliftonville is nice for a meal as well!
We always have great summers in Margate.

And dont forget Yates or Bar 26 with the Scenic staff when the park closes!

Perhaps we can get a leaflet or poster together, advertising Dreamland - if thats ok with the people in charge!
Obviously Dreamland would be the main attraction of Margate, but also advertise all the other attractions, as well as some nice places to stay- and some nice places to eat and drink. We also have lovely beaches and parks.
These could be distributed to libraries, tourist information, coach companies and train stations as well as other attractions.
