Well i can remember filling in the public consultation and reminding the council that dreamland was unique. Everyone i spoke to was in support of dreamland reopening.
Can't say i can remember the council giving us a conclusion to all that expensive work they undertook.
Also why was that great big hole on margate seafront left like it was? Yes an ideal entrance to a new development.
Does it not matter what people who live and work in thanet think, we are supposed to be a democratic society, after reading the posts about dreamland being sold i feel disillusioned to say the least.
I really want dreamland back on track, whats the point of more houses, except for a huge profit for the owners and tons of council tax for the council. Don't forget Thanet is need of regeneration and lasting jobs.
Once again i feel sad, i hope that we can win this for dreamland sake, i know it can work.

I think you are talking about the Masterplan consultation and I dont think there has been a conclusion to that yet. There was the Local Plan Inquiry last summer, for which the report will come later in the year. The Campaign attended that and gave evidence, which is posted on this site.

As Nick has said there is still a long way to go and the continuing support of the residents will be important. I know that all information will be posted here.

Susan is absolutely right. There are a number of things we can do over the coming weeks and months:

1. Get involved in the further work on the Margate Masterplan, the consultation for which firmly came out in favour of retaining Dreamland and the Scenic Railway. Can local people keep alert for any further developments on this and inform the Campaign?

2. Consultation on the new Local Development Framework (a replacement for the Local Plan) throughout 2005. There will be a special supporting document about the seafront including Dreamland, which will be consulted on shortly. Again, we can all get involved.

3. The Inspector's Report into last year's public inquiry is due in October. That could recommend reinstating the original policy to retain Dreamland.

4. Once the new owners submit a planning application (and a listed building consent application for the Scenic Railway), we can formally object (or support, of course, if it is what we want to see!)
