The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

What a stunning surprise that was this morning !
Just a quick post to thanks Jean-Marc and Nick for the obviously huge amount of work that has gone into this. It really is stunning and shows so well how the park could be turned around.
I loved the links to the past but with a twist such as the Shoot the Chute standing in for the Water Chute and the new River Caves and the new logo does the plans justice.
Are there plans to attract attention to the vision outside of the website?
I think it can have a real effect on people and deserves as large an audience as possible.

Yes, there is. A press release has gone out and it has already been picked up by the media.
It has been covered extensively in today's Kent on Sunday newspaper. I have already given a long interview to Invicta FM, who will be carrying it on their news. I am sure there will be a lot more press coverage over the next few days.
In addition, we will be formally submitting it to the Council as part of their current Local Development Framework consultation. We hope it will raise a few eyebrows!

I have been following the Save Dreamland Campaign since its concept, and managed to get down to the park last year to show my support. All I could think when riding the Scenic was how much potential Dreamland still has, and without Dreamland, Margate wont really be worth visiting (The Turner Centre and retail outlets are hardly going to attract tourists from far and wide). Looking at the excellent concept plan (Well done JMT and Nick) has really confirmed my beliefs. Here's hoping that Thanet District Council take a long hard look at it and think the same thing.

Fantastic!
How on Earth can TDC not see what this would do for Thanet? This has got to be the way forward for Dreamland, lets hope it, or something very much like it, is the way that things turn out.

WOW!!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!
I have been thinking about all the different ways Dreamland could be revitalised and this is perfect (unless they wanted to add a top scan and a giga coaster - wake up!)
What a way to prove just how obvious Godden's "ooh no the park is no good" ploy was. Stick it to the man Jean-Marc... you rock!!!!
We just need to prove to the council that we can make more money for this town with a top notch theme park then another carbon copy shopping centre and completely pointless art gallery. I'm living in London now and have been to several of the countries best art galleries all of whom are struggling to fill their wall space with anything even remotley decent. If Turner were alive today would he want a ride on the Scenic Railway? YOU BET YOUR ASS HE WOULD!!! But only after he'd painted first.
Keep up the amazing work guys.
P.S. Tussauds group sold during the week to very wealthy incestment company from Dubai looking to expand.. drop them a line!!!! Looks like they have cash to splash...
I'm really not Okay!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely superb! A great piece of work by JMT and Nick and all...well done!
Let's hope that Thanet DC can finally see what's been staring them in the face all this time...that Dreamland as a fun park is worth retaining, and worth investing in.
If this line-up of rides opened next year I would be there opening day!
David.

The plan for Dreamland looks brilliant but needs to be approved and implemented asap. This is not a just a vision for Dreamland but could and should be about what Dreamland is all about, a space for locals and visitors to enjoy and to continue Margates SEASIDE Heritage.protecting and enhancing it for the next generation. Thank you to Nick and Jean for all their hard work and effort which is appreciated by the campaign this must become reality The Scenic Railway looks right in the plan and we are so pleased to see included green attractive spaces including plants and trees. Bygone years ago Dreamland was advertised as being part Tea Garden, as illustrated by some repro postcards in the visitors centre. How come the owner was enabled to pave everywhere and run it down to the state its in now. The I Dream of Dreamland plan is the visional way forward for Margate. Surely the council must realise this easter the resort is struggling again.

This plan is amazing. It's made me realise that the only reason I ever visited Margate was for DREAMLAND - there must be many others like me!
It's simple DREAMLAND = VISITORS.
TDC you must listen!

For those who have watched the BBC Television's Breakfast News programme clip, when the news broadcaster mentions Jean Marc as a Paris-Based theme park designer, who else thought it sounded like "Parrot-faced theme park designer"?
Have another listen?
