Last Orders

Hi all,

Did anyone catch the above film on BBC1 last night? I meant to post this before, but just in case anyone missed it, it featured Dreamland, or at least its passing by along the seafront. One of the cast says "See Dreamland's still there then" as they drive past the seafront landmark. For a film made in the year 2000 it was quite a poignant comment I thought.

I got a free DVD copy of the film in the Sunday Telegraph some weeks ago, rather ironically, as it's now had its premiere on mainstream TV.

Yes i watched that last night, it was a very good film, it goes to show that margate has a rather special meaning to some people! A GREAT FILM!

Thanks for the comments Alfie. As I posted this original post early this morning when my brain was still in overdrive after another day at work I forgot to make my main comment.

This film got me wondering just how many other films have used Margate and Dreamland as their backdrop. Tracey Emin's fairly recent "Top Spot" obviously springs to mind, but I guess there must be a few others. I just thought it might be quite amusing to try to compile a list.

I just hope the original film I mentioned (Last Orders) doesn't have any bearing on Dreamland's eventual future.

PS Just heard on the news that you're leaving Eastenders then! - as announced at a recent awards ceremony. Not that I'm any soap fan. Like the late Spike Milligan once said on Room 101, if he was in charge of TV programming he'd scrap the lot of them. I agree totally. Complete time wasters in my opinion, and so trivial and over the top. But then they must please a certain group of people; just as well we're all different.

"The Last Resort" which I thought was a fantastic piece of film noir, but which didn't please TDC when it came out.
