I found this old article on the web from the early years when Mr G. took over Dreamland.

I would be very interested to read any comments that anyone may have on it.

Yes, fascinating stuff! (I do also recall how Mr Godden was supposed to have wholeheartedly supported Dreamland's continued existance as an amusement park). Enough said there I think.

Thank God the aforementioned park operator relinquished operations at Dymchurch's small amusement park. Although hardly an amazing park for most adults, I think it would have been very sad to see this facility disappear only to allow for the current continued dwelling expansion programme gripping the UK presently it seems.

By the way, does anyone else think block paving is not the most appropriate surface for an ever-changing amusement park? - a large chunk of it is now either falling into disrepair or suffering from rather uneven spots. Its maintenance is surely much more costly than other surfaces like tarmac or concrete. Just my view but I do think Thorpe Park's rather trendy "patterned" tarmac-like surfaces are very effective (near their outdoor carousel and the stretch towards the log flume).
