looks like Dreamland will be open for next 3 years anyway acroding to the ad in this weeks paper (page13)

Great news marc!

The good thing about this is that any development is ruled out for another
three seasons and that hopefully money will be spent on the scenic.

But their are still problems, that bloody fence that was erected at the start of the 2005 season still stands which means that we are still limited for ride space assuming that is what you mean by the entire site. I see that turned out just as planned for JG.

And the other downside to this is that the park could be poorly run again creating that bad image

No it does not mean that the site will be made available for upto 3 years on short term lets. They can be asked to leave at 1 months notice.

They will also only be occupying a part of the site. It is anticipated that redevelopment of the rest of the site for other uses will commense within the next 12 months. This will create much needed year rund jobs for Margate as well as improving the visual aspects of the site.
If enough visitors are attracted to the temporary fairground facility then at the end of the 3 years upgrading of the fairground site may be considered if not it will probably be closed but until the 3 years are up we will not know. If trading is realy bad potentially it may close before then.

Surely this would depend on what Planning Permission is granted and how it fits in with the Local Plan (as amended in January 2006). Bob, would you like to comment on this latest piece of factual information?

I think that "Bob"- who is, in reality, Barry Moss, Dreamland's General Manager- is simply stating what the development company want to see happening to the site.

Certainly no planning permission has been granted for any redevelopment at this stage.

Well if Bob = Barry Moss as you state vince charlie and sam, why can he not use his real name to post as we would then all know where is was coming from, but at least we now all know that as we suspected hes just a Goddon employee.

In fairness, perhaps he was worried about receiving a hostile reception.

Although it is true that emotions do sometimes run high about the threat to Dreamland, I'm sure that most members of the forum would join me in saying that Barry is welcome here. He is an employee of Mr Godden, and he is obviously a loyal employee. However, I'm sure he must be having very mixed feelings, given his long involvement with Dreamland.

I can only say, once again, that this is a forum which welcomes input from anyone with an opinion about Dreamland- it is not a private forum exclusively for those who believe that Dreamland should follow one particular course of action.

Barry, if you would care to elaborate on what you mean by the intended developments you mention, then I'm sure we would be interested in hearing about them.

The success, or otherwise, of a temporary amusement park will surely depend on the operatorand his willingness to take all opportunities for publicity and suchlike. Sadly we saw the problems this year almost before it opened when the chance for TV coverage was refused, free advertisements on this site refused and the offer to involve the media generally ignored. Dreamland was not open when it had been advertised to be and finally closing early, allegedly to thwart this campaign.

If judgements are to be made on the viability then it has to be done on a reasonable business basis otherwise it is just an exercise to give the result really wanted and failure pre-ordained.

So 'Bob' are you able to confirm there is a genuine desire to show Dreamland at it's best.

With regard to you re-development plans why not tell us what is planned have the courage of your convictions and test the water so to speak. Following the Inspectors report the company talked about a public consultation in 2006, presumably before you submit applications or else there would be no point, so why not start it off.

Hi Vince Charlie & Sam

Well i cannot see why he would be worried about a hostile reception, he could get that even useing his assumed name of bob, so why not come clean anyway.

I would agree that Barry may havew mixed feelings but as he is dependent on MR Goddon for his living he must support his employer, as he like all of us he has himself and his family to support.

But at least we now all know who he is so he might as well change his name to Barry.
