Waterbridge

Out of curiosity is the Waterbridge website:
http://www.waterbridge.co.uk
If so I'm slightly worried because they own my towns big indoor shopping centre (Castle Quey in Banbury). I want to know so I know where to boycotting (cheers). If it is they own a lot so a lot of places we can start boycotting them. Ofcourse I may be jumping to conclusions, but if they are I have contacts in local press and might be able to get them a little bad publicity. Every little helps. Cheers
EDIT-interessting quote "you will not be judged purely by your qualifications, or lack of them [which is why Bob is working for them]".
Double Edit: Found out they are the same people. Leave this with me, because I recon we can open up a new front. The more pressure we can place on them the better. I have contacts who are working for this company so if I can find out what some of their staff think it may be help.

Neil, be careful not to make remarks about a comapany that has not done anyting against the law, if they are staying within the law then we must also stay within the law.

It will only harm the good cause that this group is aiming for if members go out of there way to make deflamitary remarks about a company who are only doing thier busness and not done anyting wrong.

Should members of the group delibratly make fause misleading statements about the company in question then it will take this group in to a realm where it dose not want to be, where it must not be and a place where it would not be able to be taken seriously as an campain group.

The group prides itself on on telling the truth and fighting fro whats right and just its fighting for the people and what the people want, to be taken seriously the group must not take the option of badmouthing or line to make its aims come true should the group end up taking a path where it perpitrates lie after lie in order keep Dreamland operating as a theme park then...

No dont save dreamland I would not want to be assosiated with such a group who could claim the victory but at what cost, every shread of decency and all your morals lost because you have to lie to win.

but

if the group remains truthfull throughout and dose not resort to lieing and petty mudslingging and namecalling then that would be a group I would be proud of one that remained honest and desent one that could stand tall one that could stand proud head held hight sholders back anouncing

"we did it we saved dreamland"

Yes I noticed that too. Do we really want them in our town? Or does that mean we are in the 'in'crowd now?

If you look at the website under "Shop spaces" - Margate is already listed there...!

Don't worry Zoidstar, I don't plan to spread any lies about Water Bridge (despite the fact they are regularly economic with the truth, for example telling the paper no planning applications had been submitted for the site).

I agree that they may not have done anything illegal, but that doesn't inhibit the powers of free speech. Your argument that you can not criticise a company that has done nothing illegal is something we will have to agree to disagree on. Are you condening all these things such as Super Size Me, the pressure groups all conden people like Esso and Mac Donalds. Are animal rights protestors wrong if a laboratory is doing nothing illegal?

If it is the people behind Castle Quesy they are generally popular, but have had some real areas of bad publicity. When they came to the town they knew the local fair had stopped outside for centureies but then tried to put pressure on the Council to stop Banbury Fair. All I'm saying is that when Water Bridge do the next thing locally that is widely unpopualr (and there have been episodes) they can expect me to rally against them. I'm not saying I'll start lying about them or evening banging on about Dreamland (many locals would not neccessarily be interessted).

Should members of the group delibratly make fause misleading statements about the company in question then it will take this group in to a realm where it dose not want to be, where it must not be and a place where it would not be able to be taken seriously as an campain group.

I don't like arguing with Campaign members so I think you must have misunderstood me. You're reading rather more into my post than intended. I simply intended it to be taken at face value.

Why does 'bad mouthing' Water Bridge harm the campaign. Fast Food Nation didn't become a best seller because it was mud slinging lies, but because it was honest and people agree with it.

If most campaigners don't want Water Bridge 'bad mouthed' then I won't, but please don't suggest I'm the sort of person to "lie after lie in order keep Dreamland operating as a theme park" because there is no evidence to support it and I find it rather offensive (although having said that there is a power of free speech so if you want to mud sling at me that's your choice!)

It seems that this topic has gone a bit off beam. I honestly had not intended to fragment the campaign and if it's causing pople to stop working together then I'm sorry and if you want the topic deleted that's fine. Clearly if we are to win we all need to work together.

The website that started this thread has been replaced with a holding page. Strange.

Vince.

It's the same site for me. It must be in the change over process. On my computer it says 'enter site' in the middle of the page and you click on that. The site is very proffesional but that's about all that's going for. I suppose they don't want to provide too much info people like us might find useful.

Well it's changed back to a holding page, very odd. Maybe something didn't fully upload or I'm living in a time warp in the past (that confirms what Bob keeps telling me) maybe I can time travel.

Cheers Zoidstar-I know the feeling (well technically I don't because I don't have a cat!)

To be honest I don't think members of the Campaign are likely to lie because because you are right in saying this would ruin our course. Clearly some members are more radical than others and perhaps I'm at the more radical end of the spectrum. I don't really hold hard feelings against either the entire Water Bridge staff or Conservative portion of the Council. I am, however, running out of patience for a few individuals like Sandy Ezekiel, Bob and Toby Hunter.

Well the Waterbridge site seems to have had a few tweaks and updates.
Firstly it says on the website that they are currently "working on more trade related projects", and since they only have 3 projects going at the moment I wonder whether this has any meaning in relation to Dreamland. If this is the case then if the Thanet Gazettes comment thing is anything to go by it won't go down too well locally.
The best news is that the 'contacts' page has a load of new contacts, so if you want you can send fan emails to your favourite propery pirate then you know where to send your emails.
A nice little detail is that most of the emails have christian and surname, whereas Toby Hunter has gone for the nice little touch of only giving a first name to show how informal and friendly he is. In the past Waterbridge haven't been very impressive in the department of answering emails, so I wonder with Toby will live up to his causal 'common man' email address.

Best just to win the hearts of the people and force the council to tuck tail and reverse the zoning on the Dreamland site.

It's hard to discredit big companies even if they're doing unsavory things.

The council does need to impose impossibly large fines for any wrongdoing.

Just checking the background picture of that page is of Margate right (up the high street same side at Mc d's)?

That needs to be pointed out to the council.

If you are referring to the picture on the shop space section of the Waterbridge site, it is not Margate High Street.
