The safety of Theme parks is being called into question yet again with two accidents within a few days one in Ireland where fortunately no one was seriously injured and one in Australia where sadly four people have died on Thunder River Rapids ride at Dreamworld

The incident at Dreamworld, Australia is truly horrific. However, there is still more risk driving to a park than being involved in an accident on a ride. The invention of social media has opened up incidents and accidents to the masses as with just a few words on Twitter or facebook, a media outlet can pick the story up (and not check the facts)

This causes its own share of problems as non news stories are published (take the one where a media outlet had to issue an apology to Dreamland as they had got their facts wrong) and even recently a woman has claimed discrimination against Thorpe Park as her large breasts made it impossible for the restraints to close on two rides.

Personally, I have been riding coasters and visiting theme parks for 40 years and have never been involved in any form of accident or witnessed anything other than a breakdown of rides where people were evacuated safely.

Is it? I haven't seen that particular article, do you have a link?

Notwithstanding your spelling mistake, this is a weird title to choose for this topic, it makes you seem almost happy/smug about this tragic accident.

That aside, I agree of course that this was a deeply shocking event, especially for the theme park enthusiast community, and our thoughts must go out to the friends and families of the victims.
