The Big Wheel - A Statement

Hi all,
Well the big wheel looks fantastic and especially at night when its all lit up - its a real statement for Dreamland, saying Dreamland will be back despite everything. I hope that the person who has it this season really pulls out all the stops.
The council are soooooooooooooo blind. Margate could be a wonderful seaside resort again.

I hope that George does do well this season but as there are still only the following rides on site: Scenic, Dodgems, Twist, Terminator, couple of juveniles and the Big Wheel, he has less than a week before its supposed to be up and running.

I've heard that George is now planning to open on May Day, rather than at Easter. I don't know this for a fact, just local rumour, but the few rides on site point to it being true.

It's all a bit of a shame, as his heart seems to be in the right place and he seems commited, however I am beginning to worry about whether this year will be a success.

I guess M&Ds might not be happy too as there's a limit to how long it will be viable to run the Big Wheel on its own without being part of an amusement park.

Originally it was advertised as having 10 pitches and I guess they will be filled by
1) Big Wheel
2) Dodgems
3) I heard something about a Waltzer
4) Twist (not sure whether this would be an entire pitch or perhaps 2/3 or something)
5) Terminator (is this a Top Spin?)
http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?record_id=642
6) Perhaps a pitch worth of juvinille rides
Well now the fence is up it's rather small to start with and if barely half the pitches are in use it will have difficulty capturing the public's imagination.
Here's what might come:
7)Reverse Bungee (something about it in paper if my memory is correct)
8)Booster (I think Harry Aryes owns one so it would be a surpirse if it didn't make an appearance)
So we are left with two mystery pitches. Let's hope they are filled soon, as Dreamland clearly hasn't got much to offer other than rides.

I think there will be a massive drop in people using the Big Wheel due to Bird Flu....all those birds up there, you stuck in the little carriage....it is a disaster waiting to happen *

Isn't that a riot? I see asian people here (we have a LOT of asian immigrants in San Francisco) wearing surgical masks out in public.
I can't imagine what rumors are circulating in their community....

It's a stunning sight - I was in Margate buying Marmite the other weekend and couldn't have been more impressed with the Eye.

In a generally drab skyline thanks to the Grey Turd that is Arlington House with William Hill and Samo's Pizza as its bedfellows, what a difference it makes and every effort should be made to preserve it in it's current location . I'm sure TDC have plans afoot for a Bronze Statue of Jimmy Godden in a Jebidiah Springfield pose to replace it.

To make Margate an attractive place which will attract visitors it really needs to smarten up. Anyone visiting the seafront in Margate at present tends to think what a dump.

The town centre has really been allowed to become very run down. It does not need a fortune spent to make it look presentable

Ditto Dreamland.
