DREAMLAND IN THE 70S - A PLEA

First of all - hello to everyone on this great forum. Let me introduce myself: I'm Margate born and bred - lived in the town from 1970 until 1990 ish. I now live in Minehead, Somerset. I fully support your campaign to preserve Dreamland as an amusement park and I am heartened to see the level of support and the depth of emotion your campaign has, both locally, and further afield.

I have great memories of visiting Dreamland in the 1970s. I remember the last weekend of the season when all the rides were half price and the locals flocked to the park. My favourite rides were the Sky Wheels, the Caterpillar, the Jets, the River Caves, the Helter Skelter, the Ghost Train, the Racing Coaster and of course the Scenic Railway.

What I DON'T have though are many photos from that time period. If anyone has ANY photos of Dreamland in the late 60s and 70s PLEASE get in contact - I would be so grateful.

The Sky Wheels were a prominent part of the Margate skyline so there MUST be pics out there somewhere.

One other question - does anyone know what year the Sky Wheels left Dreamland? Any info on this or just thoughts/ opinions of Dreamland in the 70s appreciated.

Thanks for reading.
Anthony :)
