Oh my god!
This has to be the cruelest ride ever! I just cant believe they are showing a video of it working on the official Dremaland site!
Definately one to avoid if your full of chips and ice cream!
Anyone been on it? Is it as bad as what it looks?

Strangely, I find that this is one of the few spin 'n' spew rides that I can ride with impunity. It is the unpredictable nature of the ride that makes it far less nauseating than most spinners - although the spinning can be quite severe and very sudden, it is intermittent rather than continuous.
Yes - it is disorientating, but in a fun way. The best bit is when you are reach the end of the boom as it passes the top of the circle. You then tend to get flipped upside down, with the car remaining upside down as you get pulled down to Earth! Great fun!
The same is true of the Chaos ride, made by the same company and also at Dreamland this season. It looks really intense, but is actually a lot of fun...
The original few Zippers were designed to rotate at almost twice the rate of the more recent models, however. Chance Manufacturing reduced the speed of the drive motors after excessively large cleaning bills were reported by the owners of the original rides.

These Zipper rides look quite insane to me; the first amd only time I've ever seen such a contraption was some years ago when I won a ticket (including fair rides) to an outdoor rave at Arena Essex back in the day. I never realised they were American. If the "Wonder Wheel" copy at Disney's California Adventure makes me feel a bit queasy I dread to think what this thing would do to me! (think I'll probably leave it to the imagination).
Saying that though, I think they are really fun to watch in action. Just wish I had a stronger stomach, and perhaps a little less trepidation in boarding such rides.
Looking forward to the weekend scorcher; in the low eighties?? - maybe the football won't distract the punters too much. It certainly won't affect my attendance this Saturday for the Coasterforce "Save the Scenic Live" event. (No footy fan me)

I wont have my zipper open this weekend as I am awaiting a part that needs replacing and unfortunately the fabrication shop cant attend now till monday
The ride is an american ride and spare parts take a while to be shipped
or to be fabricated by british factorys
and to those that may be wondering what I am waiting for its a simple propshaft (cheverolet one)
now if it was only from a Skoda we would be up and running LOL

I remember riding a Zipper when I was in or around my early teens. It was probably the first and only time I saw one in the flesh and I had to ride it.
They are awesome rides that really pack a punch. Not necessarily too good for those with weaker stomachs but still, very fun rides!
It was a shame it wasn't open today as I was dying to ride it but there is always time later in the season. I should imagine I'll be heading to the park again soon!

Zipper will be open this weekend providing the machine shop delivers my parts in time
being an american ride the propshaft was from a cheverolet and the engineering firm was on site today to carry out the repairs
needless to say nothing in this life ever goes smoothly so my engineer will return on wednesday to finish the job
in the meantime my 2 lads are carrying out upgrades to the machine to make her run smoother
heres hoping this weekend Big Bertha as I call her can get spinning for the season
look foreward to meeting you
