A stroll around Dreamland

Allo Folks,
There's a new post about Dreamland on my humble blog, those with fond memories from years past who haven't seen what it looks like now might choose not to look as it's rather disheartening.
As I was taking the photos for this I bumped into a party who used to visit regularly back in the late fifties and sixties, they were quite sad to see what had become of the place. I apologised on behalf of Margate and pointed them towards this site.

Didnt you know that Dreamland was closed at week days until the kids school summer holidays

Yes, but visitors don't know that and it's not signposted as such.
Just like the tourist sign on London Road, Ramsgate, I know 3 out of 4 of the attractions are long gone but that's not the point.

Yes, Waterbridge have certainly the seafront entry very difficult.

Side entry via the Belgrave Rd and the car park is certainly much easier.

Also, because all the rides are situated behind the Scenics structure, it is difficult to know whether the park is open or not unless you actually witness a Scenic train actually going round.

Only the devout few (generally people who read this forum) could actually tell you when Dreamland is open. Even the official website is misleading and people may be fooled into believing that the park is open every day from May 27th.

Yes it does appear that making the place look as grim as possible is a deliberate attempt at making sure all visitors go away shaking their heads in disbelief. They then tell their chums and after a few seasons no one will want to visit it. Frankly it's an outrageous development.

Just want to say that the "Art and Elbows" blog is something I have been a follower of for several months now since I first stumbled across it on the Usenet group uk.local.kent and it is well worth a regular read.

It does not have an "agenda". It is neither for or against Dreamland or anything else in Thanet. It tells Thanet like it is.

I really would recommend reading it, having a look through past issues, and bookmarking it if you live in, or have any interest in Thanet.

Yes, will be having a look at the website, seems to tell it how it is.......I'm really worried now, is that really the entrance, how appealing!
Still perhaps we can use that to our advantage when they say Dreamland is not viable, (which i'm sure they will).
Hardly an inviting entrance, looks more like the entrance to our local dump!
To prove Dreamland is NOT viable, surely they must operate it properly to make that judgement.

You have to give visitors credit for taking a few minutes to actually find an opening and get in!

My original idea for the blog was to concentrate on arts and regeneration, but there's so little of that actually going on so I end up writing about mismanagement, etc.
Wish it wasn't that way but sadly it is.
