Sorry, it's not exactly Dreamland related, but as Sarah posted a couple of months back, I believe that the Margate Jazz Festival may be occurring this weekend. I saw Cleo Lane on the local BBC News last night, however I didn't hear the commentary properly.

Anyone know if the above event is taking place this weekend or not? (and is it free??)

Just curious - any excuse to pay a visit, and go for a ride or two.

PS I managed to win Kent County Show tickets on the above news show on Thursday night - I'll wear my Campaign t-shirt. Shame we didn't have a presence there (I suppose they charge quite a site fee though)

PPS I saw the event's Big Wheel has been scaring the horses a bit on Meridian News last night - apparently only when it stops and starts again. There's also some "adrenaline zone" new this year - maybe I'll do a report if I go later today with some friends.

Yep, Margate Jazz Festival is this weekend. From 2pm today and tomorrow, on the Parade (at the bottom of the High Street, overlooking the Harbour), free. It's a very impressive line up: Saturday includes Julian Siegel Quartet, Christine Tobin, Annie Whitehead and the Colin Towns Mask Septet; Sunday features Soothsayers, Stan Tracey Quartet, Lianne Carroll and Ian Shaw.

There are also gigs going on all through the week at various venues around the Old Town, highlight probably being John Etheridge, free on Wednesday night, at the Wig & Pen.

Many thanks for the comprehensive info Sarah. I'll be doing my best to "get down" tomorrow. Hopefully may be able to catch you at the Grotto for once too (trust you'll be working there!)

Just wanted to thank everyone involved in the very impressive weekend free Jazz Festival. It was certainly good to see a good crowd gathering outside the Harbour Cafe Bar and other eateries/ drinking establishments.

In the afternoon I even spotted one of our Council friends; Colin Fitt, I believe. Maybe it was my Save Dreamland t-shirt which avoided any social interaction. Good to see the level of support anyhow. I might even be tempted back for one of the evening sessions after work this week.

Sarah, according to the event programme, John Etheridge is playing tonight (I believe you told me it was Wednesday) - I may call the venue to confirm should I decide to go.

PS Roberta Flack is playing in London tonight; I really would've loved to have seen her but could be difficult after work etc to get up there in time.
