Fleetwood

The Great British Seaside Resort: sun, sand, piers, funfairs and donkey rides. But that is only part of the attraction. If you love being beside the seaside, talk about it here!

Fleetwood

After two years of redevelopment, Persian Developments have announced that Fleetwood Pier (almost 100 years old) will reopen next month complete with music bars, cafe and amusement arcade.

To be fair Fleetwood doesn't appear to have much going for it so the pier will hopefully be a welcome boost for the area - But you know some of the best days out my family had last year were along the Fylde Coast.

..and Fleetwood was no exception..

We paid 90p for my daughter (free for adults) for a morning's beechcombing on the sands there.

I don't think my wife and I will ever forget that morning.

Smiling kids with buckets, nets, spades and worksheets- excited and happy - scouring the sands for shells encouraged by two very friendly and knowledgeable 'Rangers'.

I make no excuses for sounding sentimental - Fun does not have to cost the earth.

Roll on summer.
Please pass through the turnstiles if you are riding again.
