A developer has started work on the Frontierland site in February but has recently gone bust. It looks like the Log Flume has been partly demolished according to pics on this forum:

Seafront site left in limbo as developer goes bust

26 February 2009

PLANS to build on the old Frontierland site are back to square one after developers interested in building a 'mixed-use scheme' at the old Morecambe theme park went bust.
According to Lancaster City Council, owners Morrisons are now trying to find other businesses who might be interested in a similar development.

But this means the front of the site will remain a derelict wasteground for the foreseeable future.

This latest setback comes almost a decade after Morrisons first bought the site and announced plans to build a retail village. Planning permission was granted in 2001 after a public inquiry, but there was little interest from retailers and the proposals were scrapped.

Then in 2005, Morrisons revealed plans to build 125 luxury apartments, 28 houses, a pub, 65 retirement flats, an 80-room hotel and a three-store retail park on the site.

Outline planning permission was given and the first phase saw a JJB Sports shop and gym, Homebase and Next open last year. But there has been no sign of any further progress.

Morrisons were unavailable for comment as The Visitor went to press.

I hope that the Midland Hotel can keep going, while in itself it is fabulous it needs some decent surroundings too.

I have some pics I took there, I must upload...

Shame the Polo Tower can't be repaired and re-used.

Well, how spooky and bizarre can you get?

I have just switched on TV to find a repeat of Coast, featuring... Morecambe and the Midland Hotel.
