Southend Kursaal Fire

ABOUT 40 customers had to be evacuated from Southend’s iconic Kursaal building following a kitchen fire.
Firefighters were called to deal with the blaze at the historic building in Eastern Esplanade about 7.30pm today.
The fire broke out in a deep-fat fryer in the kitchen of the Kursaal’s bowling alley.
Three crews from Southend fire station spent about 15 minutes at the scene.
Thank god it did not spread to the rest of the building the loss of such a historic building would have been devistating.
