I’ve just had a good laugh at a Stella Artois advert in today’s “Weekend” magazine from the Guardian.
The beer company are running a series of adverts showing aspects of films invading Britain. Today’s scene is a seaside scene, with the pier stretching towards the horizon. After a quick glance I realised it was Clacton!
The picture clearly shows Techno Jump, Paratrooper, the new 2005 ride, the Lifeboat station and the Jolly Roger building at the end of the pier.
Films include:
Dr No – Ursula Andress lookalike coming out of water
Apocalypse Now – helicopters in air!
Jaws – shark fin
Chariots of Fire – runners on beach
French Lieutenant’s Woman – woman standing on jetty
Blair Witch Project – signs on notice boards
Kes – kestrel on railing (bet I’d scare it off!)
The Piano – piano on beach
Saving Private Ryan – beach defences
Deep Impact - fireball coming from sky
Hunt for Red October? – submarine
There are also divers in the water (don’t know film) and three tiny, miniature hot air balloons without passengers (they almost look like upturned takeaway bags - what film has those?)
I’m sure I’ve missed some!
Great, great advert.
