The Southport Pier Train now arriving...

The Great British Seaside Resort: sun, sand, piers, funfairs and donkey rides. But that is only part of the attraction. If you love being beside the seaside, talk about it here!

Cheers!

Gary (who remembers the Southport pier train circa 1960s when it took an age to get to the end..Believe me when I say it was really slow back then!) :-)
Please pass through the turnstiles if you are riding again.

That is good to see. I will be in Southport on 20 August for the launch of the new Pleasureland book (http://www.joylandbooks.com/books_new/pleasurelandmemories.htm), so I will take a stroll down to the pier and have a look.

(Pictured under the pier (left) is John Shawcroft. He said "I hope the pier can take the trains weight")

yes they would have been designed and built for that exact reason, you would'nt build a train that was too heavy to go on, why is some people come out with stupid statements.
Zoid on!
