Council Meeting (Wednesday 16th April)

"In other related news, at the Planning Committee Meeting on Wednesday 16 April, Thanet District Council officers will be asking members' leave to serve a Repairs Notice under the 1990 (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act, to put the Scenic Railway back into operational condition. This meeting is open to the public. It starts at 7pm at the Council Chamber, Council Offices, Cecil Square, Margate. It is the first item on the agenda so anybody attending must be prompt."

This is a very important first step in getting the old girl going again. I'd like to think we could fill the public gallery!

Sarah - it's staggeringly brave of the local authority too - we must commend Thanet for this bold move.

It's not an easy route to go down, and I hope everyone reading this who has been critical of Thanet will appreciate that this is really, really good news, and a brave step to take.

I'm many hundreds of miles away, but I will be there in spirit. I've just passed on this good news to SAVE and the c20th Soc who are very pleased also.

So many times, local authorities, for many reasons, feel they can't act - Thanet is. Well done Thanet!

I probably won't be in Thanet to see this as I'll be in Swindon, but it will be very interesting to hear what happens.

I think if the railway were running again it would be a big boost to Margate.

I should be able to attend this meeting luckily (well, there are some advantages of being a man of leisure again as of Monday coming). Good job it's not Monday afternoon though as I have a job interview.

Look forward to seeing as many as possible from the Campaign, and yes, I sincerely hope that maximum public support can be shown.

Maybe this was the kick they needed to realize how important that Scenic and Dreamland are, and on the cusp of losing it, have decided to FINALLY get off their duffs and DO something.

I have my own full council meeting on the Thursday (which if you want to see democracy in action two nights in you are welcome to!)

I will do everything I can to be there on Wednesday evening.

Just a quick question any ideas of where the best place to park is? I know alot of places are free after 6 I think but not too sure.
