For decades, every Hornby train and every Scalextric car was manufactured here, along with track, accessories, the whole lot. In the 1980's Rovex- the parent company- was Margate's largest employer.
Course, it's a shame that production moved to China, I remember Rovex as a very busy place, but that's the way of the world I suppose. I do think this new visitor centre could become a major tourist attraction, it shares with our own vision a blend of heritage and history, the present and the future.
Anyway, it's well worth a visit, but do check opening times if visiting outside the school holidays.
