Preston Steam Rally

The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

Preston Steam Rally

Postby Vince, Charlie and Sam » 17 Jun 2006, 15:22

The three of us will be visiting Preston Steam Rally next weekend. We went last year and can thoroughly recommend it as a day out. We are provisionally planning to go on Sunday.

Is anybody else going? Perhaps we can meet up with some of you, it's always good to put faces to names, as it were.

Incidentally, we will be at the Thanet Air Show tomorrow- is anyone else planning to be there?

For those who don't already know, the Campaign will have a stand at the rally for the second year running. More details on our News page:

Is Billie

going to be there?

She doesn't seem to be advertised for sale any more- has someone bought her?

If only I could win that lottery....................

I am afraid that Billie won't be attending this year. But there will still be lots to see and do at the Save Dreamland stand, which will be slightly different this year.

This one. But it ain't the one that Neil Young sung about. You would be more than welcome to come along though. There's some info about the rally at http://www.prestonservices.co.uk/

And welcome to the forum.

Hello all,

Yes, I'll certainly be aiming to go down. Not sure which day yet though, but Saturday sounds preferable at the moment.

Shall we start a roll-call??

Martin

PS Sadly I had to give the Margate Air Show a miss over the last weekend. Was it really busy by the way? - at least the weather was very kind to it

Sadly I am DJing Saturday and at Depeche Mode on Sunday so won't be in Preston.

Always remember, for the first 3 conversations I had about this, I thought people were going to Lancashire!!!

Have a fantastic couple of days!

Take it easy

Major thanks to Nick for allowing Mark and CoasterForce for having space on your stand at the rally.

I know Mark is very much looking forward to it.

I have set up a page dedicated to Save Dreamland on CoasterForce, which can be viewed at www.coasterforce.com/save_dreamland I hope that the thousands of people that view CF daily pick up on it!

One of CoasterForce's most talented designers has designed a flyer for the stall (if it's ok!) highlighting the campaign and what media is on offer.

Hot !

I'l leave the proper report to Nick and Co. but the stand appeared busy for most of Saturday whilst we were there.

Some very random photos of the event and then from a flying visit to Dreamland afterwards can be found at http://www.parazz.com/html/?username=porf&albumID=68470

Cheers
