Not good news for arcades. Or indeed historic buildings - the listed Grand Hotel, descibed as 'derelict' has ben severely damaged too.

Still, it all makes for a wonderful new 'mixed use' development opportunity... flats, shops, etc etc...

Hi

I would think that this would be rebuilt as it was not only an amusement arcade, but was a bar, night club and had other entertaiment in there, and the last time i was in skeggy and this was mid week in early June the place was pritty busy, The only good tihng is that this happend on Thursday night and not a weekend night when the Nightclub would have been in use and full of people.

did'nt realise you know who owned that aswell !

the front along there is about a mile long probably and very wide leading down to the sea so luckily wont affect trade as there is so much to do

dont think its the time to say what should replace it

i think its better to realise that no-one got killed or seriously injured in sucha huge fire
could have been a lot wose if there was people in the building at the time

Well, given that no-one was killed, I'm sad that a historic building has been lost - the hotel - and wonder why exactly it was left to become derelict.

But it will be interesting to see what will replace all this...

So how big is the site is say relation to a football pitch?

No idea but I have no doubt a google earth search will bring answers - if you know how big a football pitch is.

There was a very large centre spread picture in the Guardian about it.

Fire at Great Yarmouth too. Another historic building gone.

What was the fire at yarmouth i did not rememer seeing any badly damaged buildings or open spaces where one may have been at Yarmouth when i was there over the august BH
