The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

I don't think we (supporters) covered the costs of the salvage for the Rhyl Waterchute, but I do feel that I need to raid my small piggy bank again to send another campaign donation...
Please can people join me?
Can Sarah please post again the details of who to send cash etc to?
Let's remember that so many setbacks have been overcome, and we need to battle on I agree.
But this campaign is run on love and goodwill, and a vast amount of unpaid hard work by the 'team', and some cash in the bank is always needed!

Good idea EAS!
I found Sarah's paypal account from last time, another £50 gone into the funds from Vince & Nicky.
Please don't ask for Sarah's details, that's up to her to pass out.
Vince.

Have found details - cheques to Sarah and made out to Save Dreamland Trust, no doubt Sarah will post further contact details asap.
Ours will be sent by pigeon in the morning. It's in the envelope now and stamped.
Please can everyone chip in a bit?
We are many miles away and feel pretty helpless, but cash always is useful I know.

All donations gratefully received, of course.
Cheques made payable to the Save Dreamland Trust and sent to me at:
The Shell Grotto
Grotto Hill
Margate
Kent CT9 2BU
My Paypal email is
sarah@sjv.demon.co.uk and my username is Sarah Vickery. I'll then write out a cheque at this end (and cover all fees).
Thanks for raising this again EAS, and thanks Vince and Nicky for the (second) generous donation.

Thanks Sarah. Thankfully I kept your details and have even found the cheque book, an envelope and a stamp!
All I need now is to walk to the post box and pop it in.
I have no doubt others will do likewise.

Also I am sure that anyone living in Margate will be able to call in person to the Shell Grotto?

This is the first place to visit people, if you want to make a difference.

Indeed yes - please visit and give to the Trust!
The Grotto itself is worth a visit...

Margate has so many wonders which require more publicity!

Facilities
The Eighth Wonder Café serves freshly-ground coffee and speciality teas, plus cold drinks and cakes, while our shop is stocked with a wide range of gifts. The Mystery Museum shares the artefacts relating to the Grotto and airs some of the many theories that attempt to explain its history. All are open at the above hours.

At a very bleak time it is heartening to know how many of you are supporting us and as the saying goes "putting your money where your mouth is".
Thank You

I second Susan's comments. Thank you to everybody who continues to contribute to this Campaign as we go through one of our most difficult periods.

Thanks to those who have already visited the Grotto wielding cash. We're open 10am to 5pm every day and we're already operating something akin to a counselling service!
I'm here most of the time, although out this afternoon doing a live news feed for Meridian.

At some point shortly, maybe we should consider a fundraising event in Margate following yesterday's events.
As always I am happy to do whatever I can
