ITV People's Millions Lottery Awards

Postby porterm » 08 May 2008, 23:21

I just caught this item on Merdian Tonight earlier this evening. I was just wondering if we could somehow perhaps apply for a chance of some funding for Dreamland's redevelopment/Scenic rebuild? etc.

It's supposed to be a community enrichment related thing so I wonder if our desired purpose would be considerable? If anyone thinks we could stand any chance of getting an award please let me know as I would be willing to post an application. (NB: I haven't yet trawled through all the terms and conditions etc so I could be being totally naive at this stage).

The applications deadline is May 15 so not too long to linger on this.

The web link is; http://itv.com/peoplesmillions/

I suspect that, as the Scenic is owned by a private company, no money will be available from the lottery.

Would be interesting to know how the insurance claim is progressing, but of course that again is a private matter.

Just to let you all know that Nick and I are looking into this but as EAS has said it might not be easy.

Susan,

Thanks for the response. If you should need any assistance just give me a shout as I have some more time on my hands at present once again.

I did think it may be a long shot though.

Just for interest I thought I'd push this back up to the top as ITV are now allowing the public to commence voting for the possible award contenders.

Details for the South Kent/Meridian TV region are here;

PS I'm not sure if Dreamland could really have been a possible entry for this but it will be interesting to see who wins overall. I believe ITV are repeating this event again next year so maybe we still have a chance. £50k would surely be rather beneficial to Margate's revival.
