in the paper a couple of weeks ago i saw an article about the margate caves and about trying to save it

The piece was in Friday's Gazette, so not that long ago!

The council has put the caves on its disposal list - ie the list of properties it's considering selling off. They are currently considering the options for the site, one of which is infilling and selling off for development. TDC has asked the public for its opinions and there is a petition objecting to proposed sale circulating in Margate - the Gazette have a copy at their offices if you want to sign up Chris.

Sadly, this appears to be a paper-based campaign at present! I know nothing about how to set up an internet petition....if anyone here does and would like to help, here's the wording.

"We, the undersigned, hereby object to the proposed sale of Margate Caves for development. We consider that they are a vital part of Margate's heritage and should be retained as a tourist attraction given that the Caves are of special historical interest."

As ever, all assistance gratefully received!
