I would like to add my congratulations to Nick, Sarah, Susan and the rest of the team/trustees on this great success. After all the hard work, sweat and tears of the past few years, things are finally turning good - let's hope it continues to be all uphill now to get the place open and running once more. Can I book my seat on the first Scenic train round now please?

This is the great news we've all been waiting for! Many congratulations to all those involved in the campaign to get Dreamland back on the map and get the ball rolling!

I remember visiting Dreamland many times when I was younger.... I can't wait to visit Dreamland once again and relive the dream - and be a kid once more!

It makes sense to get Dreamland back up and running... this isn't rocket science... Have something like this in Margate and people will visit the town and splash the cash - and have fun too!

Well - this was one news story I nearly managed to miss as for once I didn't log on to my pc last night after a night out, plus I also stayed on this evening at work for some overtime. I therefore missed the local news, however a coaster friend of mine text me with the great news.

I must say I was half expecting it, but always remained cautious. I have just seen the local BBC and ITV news coverage (abridged I'm sure) but great to see everyone in Margate on the Dreamland site. I also thought Patricia Hodge, the Culture Secretary, gave a very heart-felt speech, and appeared very genuine. She seemed to be very pleased and proud to be helping give something back to the people. I for one felt quite humble to acknowledge this Government's passion to assist projects like this, especially in such times as these.

Like others, I would like to thank everyone involved in this auspicious Campaign. Now all there is to say; "Go Margate!". Let's hope the additional funding is also attained to fulfil this development, and as soon as possible.

It's a double celebration for me, as member of the North Eastern Railway Association - Tynemouth's wonderful station, actually listed II*... two 'scenic railways'!

Both have been long term SAVE worries, too

I'm so thrilled I can't sleep! It's just wonderful, wonderful news. I know it's only the start of the next phase, and the work goes on, but it's all going to be so much better than fighting an unwilling owner and a recalcitrant council.

I'd like to pay a small tribute to Nick Dermott, Thanet's magnificent Conservation Officer (I know he has a new fancy title now, Heritage Development Advisor?) if only there were more like him around the country!

fantastic news for nick and the team and just goes to show that all the hard slog has paid off.Will the current funding that is in place be enough to restore the scenic and rebuild southports classic rides and the few from blackpool as well

Outstanding news, this is the positive shot in the arm that Margate needed, something many many people have campaigned very hard for.

Although £3.7 million will make such difference, I will still be looking closely to where the £400 raised at the Medway Dreamland Disco is spent when the public's park is up and running again (along with thinking about people like Dave D and Sarah being rather merry that night too!)

I try to avoid politics on this forum, but remember which political party stood in the way and which political party granted the funding when in comes to election times.

Well done everyone, can't wait to be riding on that special rollercoaster again!
