hotel fires

To the best of my knowledge the Grand hotel is owned by Mr Godden but the Warren Court is not.

Grand Hotel Up In Flames

Postby porterm » 21 Oct 2004, 00:50

I hadn't heard about this latest fire. Just out of interest, was the Grand Hotel the ex-Butlins one in Cliftonville?

Another fire tragedy for an apparent Godden-owned property. I won't even begin to speculate.

Martin

PS Not sure if it's me but isn't the Warren Court Hotel item an old one, according to the linked articles? - maybe I'm just too confused at this time of the day.

 Quite correct Martin, both articles were from June 2004 unfortunately I saw the "18th" and not the "June" and thought they were current

Anyone know how big this fire was then as it doesn't seem to have hit any news sites ?

Just when you thought it couldn`t happen again.....
In another apparent arson attack, the Grand Hotel in
Margate suffered a fire on Tuesday October 19th.
Minimal damage was caused but it could have been a lot worse.
Yesterday`s Thanet Extra covered the story in some detail.

Given the spate of recent fires- including this latest one in
October, and the one just a few months ago at the
Dreamland arcade, we should be worried about the risk to
Dreamland itself, especially the Scenic Railway.
Every effort should be made to trace those responsible-
No doubt Margate Police are looking into this incident.
