Scenic's 90th Birthday

Postby Sarah » 30 Jun 2010, 10:45

Hello all

This Saturday, 3rd July, is the old lady's 90th birthday, an event that should be marked by raising a glass, blowing up a balloon and maybe even blowing out some candles. So I'll be at the Lighthouse Bar at the end of the Harbour Arm from 6pm.

Please do come along if you can, all welcome.

Sarah

It's my Birthday too on Saturday...in two years time my age will be half the Scenic Railway's age...so how old will I be this Saturday! Not tricky!

Will be celebrating back home in Suffolk, but looking forward to riding the Scenic again.

We love to come too, but we are staying near Colchester Friday and Saturday.
Before booking this we had plans to go to Ramsgate Friday, but the show we was going to see had been cancelled, and staying in a hotel that night would had been just right.

Hi all - what a shame I've only just been alerted to this as I've promised a certain someone that I'd join them on a trip to another East Sussex seaside resort.

If I can wrangle out of the proposed plans I'll be down in a flash. Hope everyone has a great time as I'll likely not be able to attend the auspicious occasion. It's unfortunate that we cannot actually celebrate the old lady with a birthday ride, unless of course anyone's maybe up for a half circuit (just kidding obviously). Be careful with those candles Sarah by the way.

On the age topic, let's just say I'd like to be David's age again as the Scenic is sadly now not too many decades older than me.

Martin :D

PS I've rather surprisingly been selected to partake in a 24 hour marathon challenge on a woodie called Troy in Holland's Toverland. The 2 hour test session is scheduled for Saturday 17 July, with the main event on (of all days) September 11. Anyone care to join me for the ride over there on July 17? - probably going by ferry and using my own car

Happy birthday! Just think 90 years ago and the park was opening for the very first time and the Scenic was brand new.... See you all at the Lighthouse bar later!
