PPS Dreamland was, until very recently, owned by a private owner/company who/which didn't want it re-opened (half of it still is...) No comparison can be made with The Public or Turner there either.

I did not really know where to post this as I did not want to start a new thread, but I Just heard the great news about the compulsory purchase order on Dreamland. I am glad that something has happened which will allow the park to become a reality. It has taken a long time but I am just relieved that some kind of action plan has been taken.
Has there been any word on what will be happening to the remainder of the site though?

With Dreamland restored and the new Turner centre I can see a bright future for the town.

Yes, given that admission to the Turner Centre is free, and most visitors will spend very little elsewhere in the town during their visit, I can't really see how this will bring any actual money into the area. Maybe I'm a bit thick, but it seems that having hundreds of thousands of Londoners throwing £20 notes at Dreamland, as happens at Adventure Island might be a better idea.
