2005 season

It has been discussed between Mr Godden and Mr Ayers that the park MAY open this year, this does not mean it will open, all the items in the papers and on this site about the park opening are just maybe's and have never been definate, if and when it is decided it will be in the local press and on this site, until then i would assume it is going to remain closed until an official announcement is made.

Well, from the news on the main site tonight, it appears to be official that Dreamland will open this year..which is excellent news.

Let's spread the word!

David.

This is indeed fantastic news. Can't wait for opening day now. How much work needs to be done on Scenic to get it up and running? And when will we have our campaign get together at the park :-)

The first date we heard for the park's possible opening was 21 May, but I now hear that the plan is to get it open by the May Day Bank Holiday on 2 May. Don't take this as red though...we will have to wait for confirmation.

In terms of business in the town, the sooner Dreamland opens the better. I speak from direct experience!

Let's keep our fingers crossed that Dreamland opens early, and remains open for the whole season. Without it, Margate is in deep trouble.

I will try to get Charlie and Sam down to the Shell Grotto this weekend, as I have (unusually) a few days off work, and we have never been there.

I've just finished my final night shift and couldn't personally have read any better news other than what's on the "latest news" on this website. I always feel rather elated after my six night stints, but today just feel like shouting from the rooftops! It's such a shame though that the recent apparent indecisions have withheld Dreamland from having an Easter weekend opening, which was always traditional at places like Battersea Funfair years ago. The sooner (as the aforementioned, now defunct attraction, used to say) we are back "in full swing" the better for Margate.

I do hope a May Day weekend relaunch can be achievable for the good of the town, and like Sarah said, the sooner the better.

Well done to all involved for the 2005 season. It's now up to everyone to show the fullest support for the park this year. Let's show Thanet District Council (as if any proof were really needed) that Dreamland is indeed a critical tourist attraction player in any future Masterplan.
