The fat lady isn't even in the building yet, let alone singing. I know it's two years since the campaign started, but there's an awfully long way to go. Good God man, where's your stamina?
So I won't face it, thanks all the same.

...and another thing. Listed building consent is required for works to buildings or structures within the grounds of a listed building if they were erected prior to 1 July 1948. Therefore all of the buildings at Dreamland dating from before 1948 are listed. So the amusement arcade at the back of the site, the workshops, plus most of the buildings at the front of the site are all listed, so cannot be demolished without listed building consent. So only the rides can be dismantled (excluding the Scenic Railway, of course!)

Hello all,

I hope DN (sorry I do not know your name) that you made your comments in some fit of rage or something. I know we probably all must feel a bit dejected at times but this website has been set up surely to create positivity in our eventual goal. If you feel in any way despondent in our main saviour/ preservation agenda maybe you should reconsider your involvement with this Campaign.

I believe a united Campaign force is the best option to achieve our resolve. As Sarah said, I believe the aforementioned lady isn't even on any bill yet, yet alone in the building. Yes, I know it's a bad joke but I feel humour often helps most people through most things in life. The road ahead is surely going to have a few bends and inevitable bumps but I believe, whilst not taking things too seriously, we should all "keep the faith". That famous "fight them on the beaches" phrase also comes to the fore here for me anyway.

Martin

PS I attended the Margate Football Club protest last night outside Thanet Council's offices, sadly missing the start. However I did speak to a couple of supporters who cited how professional they thought this website is. (Hopefully they are members also; they gave full support to us anyway)

We have some wise words in previous responses. Unfortunately the planning process we are involved in is quite long and it is important the Campaign remains strong and continues to follow every twist and turn. Behind the scenes there is work going on, matters have to be attended to, letters sent etc.

There is still a long way to go and NO the campaign certainly isn't over as DN infers. It would be a foolish person that underestimates the situation.

The very regular postings on this forum indicate a continuing enthusiastic support. As Sarah says we need stamina and all the genuine campaigners I have encountered have certainly got it.

HELLO I THINK THAT YOU ARE ALL AMAZING THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO SAVE DREAM LAND AND I WANTED TO SAY I UNDERSTAND HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THE PLACE, WHEN I WAS YOUNGER MY MUM AND DAD USED TO OWN STATIC CARAVANS AT FLAMINGO LAND AND THEY HAD TO SELL UP AND I MISS THE PLACE I KNOW ITS NOT THE SAME AS IT CLOSING DOWN COMPLETLY LIKE DREAM LAND AND I DO FEEL FOR YOU ALL. IF I HAD THE MONEY I WOULD BY DREAM LAND AND WE WOULD ALL MUCK IN AND MAKE DEAM LAND WORK, I KNOW THATS NOT POSSIBLE AS I DONT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY AND ITS A PIPE DREAM, IT IS A SHAME THAT THE COUNCIL ARE ALLOWED TO MAKE THESE DISICIONS AND BE ALOWED TO GET AWAY WITH IT AND AS FOR THE MAN WHO OWENS DREAM LAND I THINK HE IS JUST ONE S**T HOSE IF HE CANNOT STAND UP FOR DREAM LAND. HOPE TO HERE FROM SOMEONE SOON

ADI XXXXXXXX PS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVEN THO THEY HAVE STARTED TO DISMATEL DREAM LAND THEY WILL NEVER DISMANTEL YOUR MEMORIES AND IF DREM LAD DOSE FINALY GO THE MAGIC WILL STILL BE IN YOUR HEARTS :D

Well it's nice of godden to clear the decks in preparation for Philip Miller taking over (we hope) and installing some decent theme park rides to compliment the Scenic Railway. No way should we be defeatist although we do need to be vigilant, and properly informed of all activities associated with Dreamland as no doubt Nick and Sarah will.

FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT!!!

ps. look forward to the next get together! :P
