Hi Lou et al,
Yes, very strange about the apparent lack of advertising for Dreamland's relaunch for 2005. I am rather concerned about Mr Ayer's comments on Nick's "current news" item today. It would seem he is rather defeatist before the season has actually begun. I'm sure many Campaign members (including myself) would have gratefully lent our help to prepare the site.
Obviously the public need to be aware that the park is once again "in full swing" to be attracted to venture down to Margate, especially at a distance.
I have contacted Meridian Tonight News and hopefully they will do a feature before this weekend's scheduled park opening.
Incidentally, on a recent visit to my local Somerfield supermarket I caught sight of many tourist info leaflets and booklets on various attractions. I picked up the one on Thanet; it's Margate map ironically gave no mention to the Dreamland site, just the Dreamland Cinema was marked up. (I believe it was aimed at last year's season however as it had some discount coupons for places like the Shell Grotto, expiring on March 31, 2005).
Thanet District Council will hopefully do some new publicity for this year's venture, but I wouldn't hold your breath personally. As we've said many times before they have an extremely unique attraction in their durisdiction, namely the Scenic Railway, but somehow do not realise how honoured they should be.
