The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

Congratulations to Sarah V for her success in the Thanet Business of the Year awards for winning the Tourism & Leisure category.
Awards were presented today (Wed 25 May) at Margate Winter Gardens and there was a deathly silence when the Shell Grotto name was read out - and no Sarah to collect her trophy!
More likely someone filled in the form and forgot to tell her!
Shame you weren't there Sarah, you missed a good lunch and a chance to be a media star for another five minutes.
Congratulations, keep up good work.

A deathly silence? You mean there was no rapturous applause?!
I had meant to come along, but events got in the way, as they so often do. Am sad that I missed a good lunch, but gutted that I missed my shot at an acceptance speech. It would have been a corker (of the controversial variety, rather than the weepy grateful sort). Probably just as well I stayed at home really.
