meeting thurs 19/1

From the news section...

Dreamland will be discussed at a Thanet council meeting on Thursday January 19. The full council will debate a government inspectorate report about the site - which said it should stay as a theme park - at its Cecil Street offices at 7.30pm. All are invited.

Is this something that it would be worth going along to? If so, who's willing to go?

Hi Ian,

I'm currently thinking of popping down to this to see things first hand.

Just noticed from your post that it's in the evening which'll make it a bit easier as well.

Hi Ian,

Thought you'd been hibernating! - Yes, I'll definitely be up for going down to the meeting if it's considered profitable. I've e-mailed Nick to gauge what's best here. I'll let you know what I decide to do.

Just had an e-mail from Nick to confirm that this is an important meeting as the Council make their decision on the Inspector's Report so I'll definitely be aiming to attend. If anyone in my area would like to go and might need transport down there send me a message and we'll try to arrange it. Sounds like this needs our full support as it's decision time.

I wish I could attend, but driving 3 hours to Margate after work is just not feasible. I have spread the word about the plans to demolish the buildings on both the ECC Mailing List, and the RCCGB Message Board, so hopefully we can get lots of support for the campaign and lots of opposition to the demolition plans.

I just hope that the Council take what the inspector said on board in full, but so far I have not been impressed with how the Council has handled anything.

Fingers crossed.

David.

Not hibernating, just lurking!! I've been here most days, its just been a busy year - getting married, new job starting in Feb, and the consequent moving house...

Anyhoo, what I've got on and see if I can go. Maybe those of us going could meet up somewhere prior to meeting for a beverage?

Just to confirm, we'll be meeting up in Yates's on Cecil Square at 6.30ish for a pre-meeting natter. It's difficult to say how long the meeting will go on for - we are Chapter 8 of 14, and we can obviously leave quietly once Dreamland has been covered - so there may even be time for a post-meeting natter too.

Would have loved to have come to this one, however, really is a bit far to travel from Birmingham and be back for work the next day!

Fingers, legs and all crossed!
