Redevelopment Can Now Move Forward

The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

Dear Robert,

Thank you for your insights..

Thank you for taking time out to put forward your points of view.

Thank you for allowing us all the unique opportunity to attempt to understand one who is so vehemenently opposed to Saving Dreamland.

Thank you for sharing your mindset:

I secretly smile and applaud the way that you have attempted to make The Save Dreamland Campaign appear to be the architects of Dreamland's own downfall..

..Clever one that.

There was a time I honestly thought you had something worthwhile to say.

Regards,

Gary

I'm waiting patiently, anticipating an answer to Dave's question. Come on Bob you claim you are in the know. How can you expect to be taken seriously when you continually dodge valid questions?

The Campaign is now really standing in the way of the redevelopment. Option C gives you pretty much what you were campaigning for, yet you are objecting to it. It seems totally illogical.

Bob - we have stated in no uncertain terms why we are campaigning, and why option C does not give long-term certainty to the park being run as a thriving amusement park.

We have also asked you direct questions which, to date, you have not even been polite enough to answer.

Please can we just agree to disagree, and leave it there?

David.

I think what you mean to say is that the campaign is standing in the way of the owner's utterly obvious deliberate campaign to redevelop most of the land, place a temporary travelling fair (whilst doing everything possible to make sure it is not promoted and run badly) on the remainder of the land, then use it's inevitable lack of success as an excuse to then redevelop that land too a few years down the line. Making a good buck or two in the process, whilst sending Margate into an irreversable decline.

Thank God for that too!

Bob, I really admire your talent in the department of arse speaking. Daves question was not actually "do we want to keep Dreamland an amusement park" but in your plans "does the operator get sold a portion of the land at the going price for an amusement park or will they get a short term lease?"

A LITTLE MORE MOUTH AND A LITTLE LESS A.RSE! Moreover I've asked you loads of questions Bob that you haven't answered. I might start a new topic "the questions Bob won't answer!".
