Dreamland Leisure

The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

The plans for Dreamland Leisure are moving forward our partners and key stakeholders have expressed their delight with the quality of the facilities to be provided. They particularly commented on the plans for the Scenic Railway area and the small faiground area to be provided to compliment the Scenic Railway. Margate will have a first class facility. Something it has lacked for some time. Note was also taken of the positive posts received from some of the "Save Dreamland Campaigners".

1 person said it would be nice to have a big wheel back
nobody has said anything postive about your plans,so get your facts correct

how about answering about the refusal of planning permission on

1) fencing
2) demolition of buildings

be nice to see what you have to say on the subject if anything?

I really don't think that a small fairground area represents the best long-term solution for Margate. It smacks of a short-term fix in order to prove that an amusement park isn't viable.

Why do you think that such a small leisure facility is the best solution, compared to a full size amusement park operated by someone dedicated to investing in it?

The main focus needs to be in getting a new Theme Park in place.

As Bob continues to attempt to twist quotes to his own ends I thought I would show that members of this campaign dont stoop to the same level. If we are going to quote it will be very accurately. I suggest we start with the one above.

If I knew how to set up a poll I might have done one, taking votes on who said it, but hopefully Bob will help you all out.

Aren't you jumping the gun slightly? The Local Plan isn't finalised yet for one thing and Waterbridge's record on getting planning permissions on the site isn't good (and they won't have made any friends by erecting a huge fence without permission). I'm sure you wouldn't wish to imply that it's all cut and dried and therefore any public consultation is a pointless PR exercise.

Anyway, why are you bothering with us when your boss considers us to be the noisy minority who have invested nothing in the town, and anyway what would we know, we're all out of towners (spoken from his desk in Berkshire)?

I hope Bob's boss, at his desk in Berkshire, had given some thought to his spokesperson on this forum.

I have not been to Margate for a few years

The fency is a tempory structure and is required to enable the fair to operate in safety this year whilst other prepartory work takes place. I am sure you will understand that we have to give safety a high priority.]

Oh, so it's a 'fency'. That's obviously a technical term. There was me thinking it was industrial barricading. A fency sounds much nicer.

And it's 'tempory'. Right. That'll be why it has foundations.

The main thing Bob is back, and better than ever! i've been missing you!!!!

Speaking on behalf of as many wise heads as Bob does he fufills a vital role in bringing hilarity to this site. Speaking as an 'out of towner' (or am I?), I should feel priviledged to speak on the same forum as Bob who seems to hail from 'cloud cuckoo land'. Toby Chunter seems to know where we all live and how much 'noise' we make. Or does he? I've seen more nouse on a brick.

Bring it on chaps. You keep 'spouting' your muck raking 'drivel'. I, for one, love it. It gets more more desparate' by the day. Noise is the least of your worries.

After a long day in London there may be some deliberate speling mistakes encoded in this massage.

As explaind the Fence is for Safety reasons to enable the Fairground to operate without risk to people attending it. The fence will remain untill the end of the season when it will be removed.
