The Forum

Postby Nick » 03 Mar 2006, 21:04

I have been away on business for the past few days and have been unable to access the forum. I have not been able to moderate the forum since Tuesday, so I apologise to all members for its slightly untidy appearance!

The problem is entirely down to people signing up with the sole purpose of disrupting the Forum. All these memberships have been deleted (approximately 7). I have also deleted all posts from these 'members' and I have deleted some entire threads.

For the past three years, I have moderated this forum all by myself. I regularly delete members and edit/delete posts (where necessary), which has stopped this sort of situation arising before. I usually hit the delete button before it gets this far.

However, this time things definitely did go too far. With the growing popularity of the Save Dreamland Campaign (and therefore this forum), it is impossible for me to moderate it on my own, whilst at the same time trying to hold down a full-time job! We therefore now have two new moderators: Sarah Vickery and Paul Freeman, who will keep their eye on the Forum alongside me. Many thanks to both of them for volunteering!

As a general rule, I prefer not to edit posts or delete members. I only delete members for two reasons:

1. When people join solely to disrupt the forum (and there have been a few of those this week!); or
2. When people (or robots) join to place links to other websites.

I only delete posts for two reasons:

1. When they are from members who fall into the above two categories; or
2. When a potentially libellous message is posted.

Other than that, I am happy for people to keep posting, whatever their views may be. I might not always agree with what some members post. But, as long as they don't fall into any of the above categories, and follow the board rules (which are repeated below), they are more than welcome here.

Hopefully, the good, intelligent, debate that this Forum is known for can now continue!

Nick

Good luck Sarah and Paul. Hopefully now this has been cleaned up, we get down to more serious discussions about the parks future rather than a war of insults. It seems that a lot has been happening recently as far as the campaign is concerned and we can be doing better things than wasting time on all these clones.
