When I walked past today, I saw what looked like a TV camera being set up in the centre of the site near to the Scenic Railway. Didn't have time to find out where there were from though.

Interesting............. maybe my call to Meridian News recently may have triggered something. I saw nothing on their late news Thursday night but as they used to say "keep 'em peeled". I'll try to call them again tomorrow.

Hi all,

I called my rep at Meridian News and he said that they weren't their cameras at the park yesterday. He said he would try to find some airtime to carry this story as soon as possible but apparently space has been at a premium recently.

Best to get it on the news before something bad happens rather than after the fact.

For the next few features for my Save Dreamland mini-site I have been trawling through past news updates. On the 1st of March 2003 there is the following entry
Nick Laister is interviewed at his office in Oxfordshire by a documentary film crew who are making a film about the impending closure of Dreamland and the campaign to save it. The film makers will be following Nick Laister and Sarah Vickery over the coming months as they fight to save Dreamland and the Scenic Railway.

Over the campaigns history there has been several attempts to have a documentary made about the campaign, but as far as I am aware they have fallen through (or did I miss them?)

In terms Jim Douglas Jr.'s suggestions about getting the park on the news I think that's one of the key things we've been doing since the campaign was founded, but I agree that the more coverage the better.

Strangely, one of the film-makers behind that documentary emailed me yesterday, after a very long period of silence. They have been very busy of late, but are planning to get back on the Campaign trail with us this year, hopefully beginning with the Dreamland Disco. I think they plan to keep filming for as long as the Campaign is running...so they're in it for the long haul!

I'm glad that it appears that someone is making a documentry about the Save Dreamland Campaign, and one day it may be shown, but I feel that we need publicity now....
Meridian news would be ideal, perhaps with a follow-up on Tonight with Trevor McDonald.
I'm sure that the dreamland story will captivate people and we will gain thousands of new members. Mainly it will inform people of what is going on and hopefully turn the madness of Thanet District Council around, and then they will see the potential of Dreamland and the dead end consequences of retail/housing development.
I just can't get my head around the short-sightedness, and short-term financial gain of building on even part of the Dreamland site.
