Riding The Big Wheel

Just a quickie to say that we took our first visit of 2006 to Dreamland today, to ride on the Big Wheel.

It's a fantastic ride. It's £2.50 per person, and makes four revolutions. The views are fantastic. It's a modern Italian built machine.

As a downside, the staff seemed bored and uninterested- this seemed to be a characteristic of Harry Ayer's staff too. Presumably Margate means little more to them than just another temporary home. Why can't they smile?

But all in all £7.50 well spent.

It did clear up for a while today, though, allowing my friend and I to motorcycle a bit and get some dim sum in China town.

I work at escape nightclub and worked for harry in 2005 i didnt get on with him and got sacked three times, but evry time he asked me to come back.

I 100% sopport your campaign and hope, because i worked for harry no one thinks diffrent

last thing i was walking to work this morning and ther was ques of people trying to get in to dreamland but sadey thay were let down.

The big wheel was packed wiv people at times every carage had people in and still ques of people trying to get on it

Glad to hear that the Margate Eye has been busy; we have too. Makes me wince to hear about people trying to get into Dreamland though. So many disappointed tourists - will they bother to come back once the park is open? Sigh.

Hi, Jacqui and i went on the big wheel saturday its got good views, but if you look over Deamland not so good, I think not running over easter they must be geting paid if they run the funfair or not.

Personally i am extremely disappointed with waterbridges efforts.

The operators are unenthusiastic and more of an effort could have been made rather than hiring something from a traveling fair.

Considering its going to be disappearing for a week because it has been booked for another fair its a waste of time.

The only positive side to it is that it will address the dreadful concrete mess in which the park now lies in.

If just something could be done to restore a few of the green areas as per the I Dream of Dreamland plan and put a few trees in, it would be so much more appealing.
Waterbridge is sitting on a goldmine and "can't see the forest for the trees."
They see it as housing and shops, not the potential long term earner we know it could be with some sprucing up.
