when's dreamland open for 2006

i just wanted to know if theres an exact date for dreamland to open this year, its the 4th may now and there hasent even been a date yet , last year it opened on 21st may with advertisement posters.

Your guess is as good as any one elses at this time it depends on how much waterbridge want to prove its not viable as an amusement park.

I dont think the park will open at all this year.The reason for this has to be they don't want it to if the park fails it will give them more reason to develope it as residental homes etc.

If anyone from Waterbridge is reading this all i can say is the campaign will keep fighting until we WIN and restore Dreamland to it's former glory.

a few minor rides have arrived at the park and a fair operator has been given the lease - whether it's any good or not remains to be seen.

last years ride selection wasn't that bad, considering.

An operator has been offered the lease but whether terms have been accepted or not remains to be seen. This operator has been in talks with Waterbridge since January as far as I am aware and in four months has managed to put up a few rides so something tells me things are not going according to plan.

I think things are going according to plan unfortuantely the plan in question is that of Waterbridge and not that of any body else, the top and bottom of the situation is thay have paid a fortune for the land the only way thay can make a profit on the land is by using it for devleopement that pays big bucks, and unfortuately selling the land to an operator as an amusement park just wont make them the sort of profit's that thay want, therefore thay have to prove it wont make money as an amusement park so thay can build houses or other high return developement, and it seems thats what thay are trying to do at this time.

According to the Gazette today the park will be open on May 20th with 10 new rides for the summer.

Let's just wait and see!

Let's hope so.

Worst case for Waterbridge, they could restore Dreamland and lease it long term. It's not the instant profit they want, but long term would be very profitable.
I'm still fairly confident they won't be able to redevelope it, so they ought to consider what I've just written.

Ooh, the park's third announced opening date is on my birthday - I wonder if George will have time to bake me a little cake, as well as getting any repairs done on the Scenic...

I would have expected the following weekend to be the next date given, as it presents us with (yet another) Bank Holiday. I wonder if we'll see the park open before the Big Wheel rolls out of Margate for its prior engagement? And I wonder if it'll roll back, given the lack of support it's had from the park?

Too bad we can't break in one night with jackhammers and a backhoe*, cut a couple of islands in the pavement, transplant a few trees, bushes, and sod in and give people an idea of what the whole park could look like.... an actual park.

* all this of course done without anyone seeing

Hi All

Yet another opening date is annouced but will it open on that date, its nice to see that some operators are behind Dreamland, but in all realitiy to make the site viable it should have been open at Easter as were all other amusement parks in the country, and it should have been open every weekend since then, maybe even some evenings as well, after all the locals i am sure would like to have some where to pop down to and spend a pound or 5 on a nice summer evening, it would seem that every thing is being done to prove its not viable, and following last nights decision I am sure more will be done to prove this point.
