It appears that Birmingham has the same type of numb-skull councillors as Thanet.
One of the Super Casino proposals was to incorporate a 50,000 seater football stadium and sports village, in one of the most deprived areas of Birmingham in desperate need of regeneration. However, our 'knowledgable' councillors rejected this in favour of the NEC bid in the very affluent Solihull Borough. The Birmingham people overwhelmingly supported the stadium/sports village pointing out that the NEC did not offer regeneration and therefore did not tick the governments boxes. Surprise Surprise, we haven't even made the short list! There is outrage in Birmingham.
These councillors have their heads so far up their own backsides it's painful. If they get a street light repaired they are bragging about what a miracle they have performed and how they are in line for the MBE and a blessing from the pope. This flippancy appears to be countrywide!
