This from Peter Crompton, who met with Dr John Pugh MP for Southport (and who recently visited Margate as one of the members of the Commons Select Committee) this afternoon.
So - if anyone is willing or has any contacts...

John Pugh interview
The results of this interview / meeting will be discussed at the usual meeting on Monday.
The discusion was very constructive and the outlook reasonably positive.
It's quite possible the Pleasure Beach at Blackpool are having a re adjustment.
The good news is that Sefton Council have pushed the covenant issue (which helps a lot)
Bad news is it could fall to the Scarisbrick Estate to decide whether to maintain the covenant, this affects us because at the moment the use is restricted. Remove the restriction and you have prime development land.
COVENANTS CAN BE SOLD TO HIGHEST BIDDERS
Will the Scarisbrick Estate stay true, and maintain the leisure only clause????
Will a potential developer take on the Cyclone?
they will want to see figures, running costs, takings estimates etc, to see if its profitable.
Will a buyer come in, apporach Sefton and take on the park again?
Perhaps Sefton Council will lease it back out as plots?
Perhaps a developer buys the covenant out, steps in and bulldozes the lot and puts an ice rink there.
That's when we need to PROTEST heavily (upon hearing the news of the return of the saws) and take direct actions
lets hope it gets resolved.
I will contacting the North West Development agency, any potential buyer , John Pugh , and if possible the people who buy (if it's true about a sell out) BPB
It's important that any developer knows the historic importance of the ride, its commercial viability, its value as an attraction, its value as focal point and its place in the hearts and minds of those who rode it, be they from Blackburn, Manchester Liverpool Morecambe , anywhere ! we all rode it and it was fun
and there are not many left.
Lets not forget that
Lets make sure the developers take us seriousley.
We must now begin to take on a business approach whilst maintaining the public support
and my thanks go to everyone that puts in the effort here
Let's work as a team, specialise in our tasks so we are harmonised, coherant and focused.
I will represent the society whenever I can but I appeal for a business minded person to come forward and help go through the figures with me, just in case i cant be around to represent us in the potential meetings.
thank you
Peter
