Theme Parks/Amusement Parks Becoming Year Round Attractions

I think it was Bob who on occasions has put up arguments that an amusement park is not viable as they can only open during the summer months (or something along those lines anyway).

This is why I was so amazed when I discovered that Thorpe Park is open for more or less all of 2007. It will open in February and remain open for the rest of the year with the odd week closed here and there for maintenance. It’s even open in December!!!

So Theme Parks/Amusement Parks must viable as year round attractions as I’m sure Tussauds would not be opening one of their parks if they were not 100% sure they were going to get something out of it.

this year the group are expermenting to see if the have the custom for all year opening and once they realise there is then it will become a permanent thing


southend already do this opening every weekend in the winter,and the place is always busy

We went to Brighton on 16th December and It was also quite busy. We spent all day there and would recommend a visit to anyone. Its a very well run establishment, and they look after there cutomers very well. The selection of food is also 1st class.

Whilst slightly of track I visited Southend the weekend before last and the new roller coaster is already being built.

I can't see it being too long before it's operating.

Fast work eh! This surely proves Phillip would be an excellent person to take on Dreamland.

Also the new opening times 'diary' is at all the entrances and a new wristband system is in place. 3 types based on the height of riders and hence the rides that you can use. The dearest one (for all the rides) is £20, this is reduced on yellow or less busy days to £15. Also ALL wristbands are half price after 6pm on 'red' or the predicted busy days.

There is also a new slogan at the entrances proclaiming the Park to be the fairest priced in the country. How's that for marketing. I'm sure the place will be buzzing as usual. (something we can only dream about, excuse me no pun intended, for Dreamland.

A restored Dreamland would offer a lovely park-like setting and a mix of nice eateries and other indoor attarctions that could be operated all year 'round, even if on a reduced schedule, with restaurants open most of the time, and othert things open perhaps at least Thursady through Sunday off season.

I think a nice walk on the beach in brisk winter weather followed by a hot cocoa, tea, or soup in one of Dreamlands cute little cafe's would be loads of fun.

I think its great that a park like Thorpe Park is trying to open all year round because it means that it could catch on. Adventure Island and Brighton pier already do this and with great success as well, they are always busy. So if someone was to purchase Dreamland and actually give it some proper attractions, maybe open an ice rink for the winter season, it will slowly become popular again, and maybe all year round too.
