"Interactive Town Planner" launched by Waterbridge

Margate Town Centre Regeneration's Text Margate site now has an online "Interactive Town Planner" to allow you to design your own view of what Margate seafront should look like and submit it to the Public Consultation.

It's done in a style that'll be familiar to anyone who has used any of the "Roller Coaster Tycoon" or similar games.



However they don't seem to be following their own "we're open to any ideas" policy very well at all - the only amusement park related items you have to choose from are the Scenic and a single Ferris Wheel, ruling out any possibility of anyone suggesting that they have an Amusement park on site.

There is quite a large supply of houses, hotels and apartments to choose from though!

It also allows you to place things in some of the Old Town and High Street, areas I don't believe they own/control.

Have a play and see what you think, but personally I can see this getting used by them as a "no one built an amusement park, so they don't want one" ploy.

It also gives a good idea of the types of development they might include.

This needs to be made public asap.

With all of this biased publicity coming out of Waterbridge, I think we should have another round of fund donations for the Campaign to counter their messages. I would put my hand in my pocket to combat their publicity.

The whole thing's completely daft. How come you can move the Scenic? Is it not listed? How come you can build stuff where Waterbridge don't own? How come you can submit more than one plan without any checks to ensure you're not the same person? How come it includes things like a library? I thought they didn't want developments that would surely need council tax subsidies.

Also they don't seem to have processed all the comments from the comment box (or at any rate they haven't sent flick books to everyone that requested one!!!). Isn't it a bit premature to be pushing onto the next stage?

I guess the best option is to contact the Isle of Thanet Gazette. Personally I've submitted a plan with just the ferris wheel and Scenic.

Ya tempted to do that and print it off and bring it to the meeting like they said . Sure is totally stupid and I noticed it's classed as a game, by the looks of it they think the whole things just a little game

Arlington house looks so pretty in those colors
I dont see any refugee resettlement office or a benefit office either
must be a different Margate to what we know

Hmmm. I've spotted something a bit "sinister". Point to Arlington House and click - nothing happens. Point to the Dreamland entrance and click - nothing happens. Point to the Railway Station and click - nothing happens. Point to the Scenic and click - and it is deleted.

Are they trying to get a particular response here?

BTW - if there is only a Scenic and Big Wheel on offer - let's just plaster the place with loads of scenics and wheels!

Rob,

Arlington, the Cinema and the Station are all fixed and can't be edited. Everything else (Scenic, Hotels, etc) behaves as you mention.

You can also only have 1 Scenic and 1 Ferris wheel, so it's not possible to fill the park with them!

Can't believe that they manage to get away with doing something so obviously biased I guess that they hope the general public will not be able to see through what they are doing.

It does make me wonder, what with this and the Southport/Morecambe fiascos, how often this kind of thing is done by businesses and councils without us, the GP, knowing about it

Anyone noticed that it is possible to place the Scenic IN the sea?
Also there is no option to add a road through the middle of Dreamland.

I recommend that anyone that has RCT3 should submit that instead.
