If Dreamland opens this year

The Save Dreamland Campaign was launched by Joyland Books in January 2003 and is now supported by several thousand people. This is the place to discuss all aspects of saving Margate's famous amusement park and its iconic , Grade II listed Scenic Railway, Britain's oldest roller coaster.

Hi all,

Yes, I'd definately be up for helping out (within my skill levels) to help get the Scenic workable for this upcoming brief season if all goes ahead. I have limited time, like most people, but do normally get three days off after every six day working cycle.

I also thought that it would be great (if feasible) to get the old "SCENIC RLWY" illuminated signage back in place on the ride (assuming the old signage has been stored somewhere). I believe it was removed prior to the Bemboms era. Obviously this should take a low priority though as it would be paramount to get the ride's operational functions and insurance/ safety certificates in place first.

I can just sense a "Roaring Twenties Night II" event in the offing!

I fully endorse Dave's sentiments regarding the reasons behind the park's sudden reopening plan, but on reflection think it would be good, in the present uncertain climate, to help prevent an otherwise somewhat disastrous season for Margate this year.

Martin

PS I'll be away in the USA from June 11-21 but feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance
