The State of the Scenic

Postby AJ » 22 Feb 2008, 10:56

As Zoidstar has mentioned in another thread about the state of the Scenic and corrosion of the wooden structure I was wondering what state it currently appears to be in. I haven't been down to Margate for a while so have seen the state the old girl is in.

Also as she hasn't had any work carried out on her since 2006 how much longer can she hold out without any maintainence?

Dave as you know the old girl inside out what do you reckon?

Essential maintainance not being carried out is a worry
as has been posted many times before
I can see in the near future a save the scenic campaign
as it will be soon so far gone that it will be financially unviable to get back into operation or will probably require major fundraising to get it up together
douglas fir is extremely expensive and the webbs in 96 replaced large sections mainly on the first drop but in several other places too
the idea was to replace other sections during the winter of 96 after the film crews had left from the exodus production and dreamland had reopened for the christmas which were the webbs plans
however during 96 the scenic was patched up many times in order to remain operational
2 winters without any maintainance whatsoever is frightening

I assume you meant 2006, rather than 1996. I would think maintenance has been done in the last 11 years (I hope anyway).
