want someone who is a giant to come along and treat Margate like their very own special model village. I want them to return Margate to its man-made majestic beauty. I want them to lovingly recreate the scenic railway and the big wheel. Make Dreamlands a place possible for teenage lovers to have dreams, the Teddy Boys to whirl on the wurlitzer and Mods to dodge with their girlfriends on the dodgems, the Victorian promenade to be graced with beautiful, wrought-iron railings.

I have to say, no one has put it better than she does in that article... I even myself, imagine at times, having won enough money to make my dreams come true and return Margate to gory.... wonder if anyone has ever writtent to any one of money and fame, or media personality, to maybe be a figure head for the fight?

I think Margate has allreadt been returned to Gory by the current council et al. I am assuming you ment glory which I am sure every body would agree with.

The high metal fence was put there without any permissions - it was illegal. The local authority took enforcement action. That's its legal duty.

Doubt that anything would deter those determined to torch the Scenic Railway.

The site is still designated for an amusement park - with or without the Scenic.

Without the Scenic, then there should be no need for 'enabling development', so it's in the best interest of the site owners to get it fixed maybe!

The High Metal fence was to protect the site unfortunately campaigners forced the removal of it. It looks as if some vandals got onto the site and set fire to the scenic. If the high fence had been in place stell they probably would not have been able to get in.

Welcome back Bob we wondered where you were at this time.

Your comment might have been valid and, indeed, one that might have been considered until we had the benefit of very close filming on the news when the hole was shown. Had you the benefit of full information, or watched all the news items, you would appreciate the fence was not the first hurdle to be overcome by the arsonist.

This is a very serious crime and being treated so by the authorities.

You have been asked many times who you are, or who you speak for, and regularly failed to respond. We would be happy to debate with you if you would just be a little more open and honest.

I would agree that you have a valid point Bob if the fence you are reffering to surrounded the Scenic and made it a secure site. But, it didn't, it only went along the front of the Scenic and top end of the park. There was no type of fencing at the back of the Scenic so your arguement isn't valid in the slightest as to the cause being a change in the type of fencing being used to secure the site.

As I think I said earlier in this thread, it was the local authority which took action against the fence, which had no permission. And yes - the TV news reports showed a large gap in the wooden fence, large enough to get several arsonists plus petrol through.

according to the urban exploration site 28 days later one of their members tried to take pictures of the scenic on the park and was immediately pounced on by security,the same guy is surprised how the arsonists did it !!!!!!!!!!!!!
